Alexis is a third-year medical student at the University of Florida where she first became involved with simulation medicine in an effort to improve utilization of available resources and promote active learning. She graduated from Tufts University in 2012 after which she spent several years working as an EMT and then later at a biotech start up. In her spare time she enjoys playing rugby, hiking, and traveling. Since co-founding the UF chapter of SIMS she has drawn from her background as an EMT, teaching assistant, and team member to organize and lead simulation events at the local level. Alexis is particularly interested in wilderness and disaster medicine. She hopes to incorporate elements of austerity and ingenuity into future events. As a Florida native, Alexis is excited to connect with medical students in the Southeast region and facilitate collaboration between institutions.
